Middle School

Early adolescence is an important time in the spiritual development of a child. This is a time when thinking begins to shift from concrete concepts to more abstract. The child can form their own faith questions as opposed to believing or behaving as they are expected to by adults. Peer friendships begin to have a larger impact on the thinking of early teens. The key to fostering continued faith development is to provide a safe place with a circle of peers and adults who are on a similar spiritual journey.

The Confirmation program at Creator provides such a place for adolescent spiritual growth. But not all youth who are interested in such an experience are required to participate in the full confirmation experience. We have plenty of teens who participate on a drop-in basis or may belong to other faith communities. We also have teens that just participate in our mission trips. If you and/or your child have an interest in Creator’s youth activities, please contact our Youth Director, Terri Heckroth at 253 862-7700. Also check out our Confirmation page and Mission Trips page (under the “Serving” tab on our website) to get a glimpse of activities.

What is the ALYVE Board?

ALYVE.JPG~~What is the ALYVE Board?
The ALYVE (Associated Lutheran Youth in Various Endeavors) board is a group of Sr. High students representing 91 churches all around the Southwest Washington Synod.  They come together in a common mission to bring the youth of our area closer to God and to each other.  Each Lutheran church in the SWWA synod is encouraged to send one or two students to the annual ALYVE board Convocation where officers are elected and projects are planned.  These young board members work hard and give countless hours to serving the larger church.

Confirmation Orientation

ginger 4.JPGDo you know anyone in 7th or 8th Grade (or older if they have not been Confirmed)?  Let them know about our exciting Confirmation Program.  Students learn about God's Great Love, a few Bible stories, and all about Luther's small Catechism; all while having FUN!  Meet new friends, play on weekend retreats, eat lots of junk food, and serve others.  For more information, please attend an orientation meeting for parents and students this Wednesday, September 17 at 7:00pm.

Jr. and Sr. High Hike & Outdoor Worship

hiking.pngBegin the fall with a hike through the beautiful woods surrounding Mud Mountain Dam.  All students in 7th-12th Grade are invited to this hike and Outdoor Worship.  Meet at the church at 8:00 am on Sunday, September 21.  We will drive up to Mud Mountain Dam, hike the rim trail, Worship God in the wonderful park, then have lunch at Wally's Drive In.  Please bring money for lunch (about $7-$10).  Be prepared to be out in the sun.  Bring a water bottle, and dress in layers.  Friends are welcome!!!!!  All youth need to have a new medical release form filled out and turned in before (or at the beginning of) the event.  We will be back to the church by 12:15 pm.  Please RSVP so we know how many drivers we will need.

We're back!!!!

Final - Copy.JPGThe Youth Mission Team is back from Los Angeles, California where they served meals to the homeless, tutored children at a summer school in a low income neighborhood, visited the elderly in a retirement hotel, sorted food at a food bank, and met and listened to the stories of some wonderful people whose home is the paved sidewalk in skid row of downtown LA.  This group learned much about extreme poverty and God's grace and hope for God's people in ALL walks of life.  Thank you so much for your support both financially and in prayer and encouragement!  We are all grateful to belong to a faith family that supports this call to love and understand ALL the people of God.

Please plan on attending the Mission Brunch on Sunday, September 14 at 12:15pm where we will show a slideshow and tell stories of our experience.
